Noise Limitations

Effective Immediately

In the CACC SoloSport rulebook which governs all our activities, there has been an official noise limit of 92dB for the Pitt Meadows Airport site since the inception of the site. However, we and the other local clubs have always tended to be a bit lenient with enforcement of this rule. There has been an increase in the number of complaints from local residents with respect to the level of noise our events have been producing. In accordance with this, we will have no choice but to begin strictly enforcing this rule. From the CACC SoloSport Rulebook:

Noise Measurement
Measuring shall be done perpendicular from the vehicle from a distance of fifty feet from the vehicle wherever safe to do so. The final decision as to adequacy shall rest with the Steward.
Appendix C - Alternate Noise Limits
The CACC Autoslalom noise limit is 96db unless there is an alternate noise limit for that facility/track listed in the following list. Alternate noise limits are at the event site discretion and will be posted in the Supplemental Regulations for that venue.
Pitt Meadows Airport - 92db

What this means to all competitors is that the strict noise limit at speed is 92db. Any vehicles found to be over this limit will forfeit the remainder of their runs for the day and will not be welcome back until they corrected this problem. In addition, the event steward and event chair have discretion on this matter and may ask people to leave as they see fit without warning, refund, or recourse regardless of whether they have or have not measured the vehicle to be over 92db.

Just an update... there have been some questions as to how the sound regulations will be enforced.

Effective immediately, all UBCSCC autocross events at the BC Driving Centre will be run under the following supplemental regulation:

Any car that reads over 92dB sustained or peaks over 95dB measured from 50' perpendicular to the vehicle with a "slow" response and "C" weighting will have exactly one further chance to run a complete run without exceeding these regulations. Any vehicle unable to do so will forfeit all further runs for the rest of the day.

In addition, vehicles that do NOT exceed these sound regulations but are deemed to be too loud by the event chair or event steward will also forfeit their runs.
