With winter approaching and a chill in the air, some people take that to mean the days of driving their classic car are numbered. But don’t pull the cover over your baby too soon, because the Annual Thanksgiving Day Sea to Sky Run takes place each year on Canadian Thanksgiving Monday! This is a quick, local, (free) and fun meetup to “give thanks” for another fine season of motoring. This year we have a new start and finish locations which are able to handle well over 300 cars!

What: A casual cruise and meetup with fellow classic car owners of all pre-’79 classic cars and trucks, '80s and '90s RetroCars (soon to be classics), and vehicles of distinction.Drive the best part of the Sea-to-Sky Highway on a quiet holiday morning, and enjoy the company of classic car nuts before you have to head off to the in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner! We plan it so that you can be back home by midday. Some of you might have done a Sea to Sky run recently with your various car clubs, but its always fun to mix all the marques together and meet new people. And really, who can say no to the beautiful views and winding turns past ocean and mountains – especially on a holiday!

When: Thanksgiving Monday, October 13th: 8:00-11:30am. We'll begin meeting at 8:00am, and depart at 8:30am.

Where: **New for 2014**
The Thanksgiving run will meet in North Vancouver at Capilano University, parking lot 4. The lot is located at the North end of Campus, and can be found using our Google Maps Link. The Run will then travel North on Hwy 99, to the Sea to Sky Gondola, south of Squamish. Here we have a large parking lot reserved for the group, with a much larger coffee shop ready to handle a mass of hungry classic car owners! The total route is just 8km longer than previous years.

What to Bring: Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the Squamish Food Bank. We'll have our Classic Car Adventures Pickup Truck at the finish, so feel free to load it to capacity!

Additional Information: The Sea to Sky Gondola is offering 10% off for anyone in our group who wishes to travel up the Gondola. Great views, a restaurant, suspension bridge and breath-taking patios await those who head to the top. The lower base, for those wishing to stay with the cars, features a coffee and pastry shop (with Galileo coffee), washrooms and of course our collection of Classic Cars!

Visit www.seatoskygondola.com for more information on our new finish facilities.

Are 90's miatas considered Retro enough? Or any tips on what are considered "cars of distinction"?

Would love to go for a casual drive on a Monday long weekend

Yup, your 90's Miata is no problem. "Cars of Distinction" is our way of keeping the event to great cars, while still allowing cars which don't fit the "classic" or "retrocars" category. But ultimately its more about weeding out the people who don't understand what responsible driving, in a group like this, is about. I'd love for this event to be "Cars and Coffee L.A." sized, with everything a car enthusiast (from any background) could come to love. But the Thursday night RevScene meets have shown that Vancouver's enthusiasts aren't "there yet". Thus we're keeping it to Classics, 80s and 90s cars that will be classics and "Cars of Distinction". My way of approving each vehicle that doesn't "fit" the mold.

Considering how the autoX and track community understands the way things can get shut down fast with poor driving or parking lot manners, my post is an open invite to all of the UBCSCC members (regardless of your vehicle choice).

Hope that explains!

Fun - a car show in my back yard! I will come check out the cars for sure. Maybe I will even get up early on Monday and cruise up to Squam with the group.

Having been up the gondola quite a few times I have to say it is worth it! The views from the top are amazing. And if you are the active type you can hike up and then take the gondola down for only $10.
