Adjustable struts for Stock?

Postby C10CoryM » Tue Jul 09, 2013 6:52 pm

Hey guys,

Just want to confirm that adjustable struts are OK for Stock class. Specifically Tokico HTS (red)
http://www.tokicoperformanceshocks.com/ ... eries.aspx

Thanks.
Cory

13.5 SHOCK ABSORBERS
A. The make of shock absorbers, struts, and strut housings may be
substituted providing that the number, type (e.g., tube, lever, etc.),
system of attachment and attachment points are not altered, except
as noted below. The interchange of gas and hydraulic shocks absorbers
is permitted. The following restrictions apply:
1. No more than 2 separate external shock damping adjustment controls
are allowed. This permits the use of shocks which originally
came with more than two external adjustments, which have been
converted to double-adjustables, only if the additional adjustment
controls have been permanently disabled (e.g., via welding, epoxying,
grinding off). Gas pressure adjustment is not considered
a damping adjustment.

they look fine.
reading the description it sounds like there is only 1 adjustment dial control. so you meet the restriction.

Thanks Norm. Little concerned about the proposed Stock class changes for 2014. Probably won't affect me in regards to struts, but I think I might just throw a swaybar on for this upcoming season instead. Hoping the rules won't go through as it appears they will take all of the things that narrow the gap between a Yaris and faster cars. *whine*

I have to say, Cory, STF is always mighty tempting if you ever get tired of the Stock / Street class.

Hey Rick,
The problem(?) is I get a very good price on one set of NT01s per year so want to run on them. Plus they are more fun, and quiet even with my crappy driving. Also want to stay in stock/street because I am trying not to spend money on the silly little car. Even with that I am looking at $700 worth of struts, $200 of front swaybar, and am daily driving on R-comps :? . STF would probably cut into my grocery budget....

I see there is a "street-R" class which is probably where I will end up if the rules go through. That being said, the slush series only gets me one or two events on R-comps so I guess it would make sense to just stay in stock/street for that to be more competitive.
