Brake pads

Postby steve123 » Tue Apr 28, 2015 1:06 pm

It's time to replace my front brake pads and I was thinking of trying some porterfield r4s pads. Has anyone had experience with these pads for auto-x and everyday driving? Also, will the difference in friction between stock and these pads have a negative effect on front/rear brake bias? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I've used and sold Porterfields for over 25 years.

Good company, and the pad is a bit more aggressive than the Hawk HP+ with MORE brake dust and noise. You will also likely notice higher rotor wear also as they are a much more aggressive pad vs any street pad out there. Never did back to back testing on any given car, but never had an issue with the R4S. But since Hawk has expanded their line to be way more extensive, I have pushed the Hawk line a lot more than Porterfield. But in some applications, it may require Porterfield, EBC or Ferodo is Hawk does not make the pad.
