UBCSCC TSD July 27 2014

edited October 2019 in Other Motorsports
Hey Everyone!

We are bringing TSD back! July and August are quieter months for us in terms of autocross events (we still have a track day on July 22!) so we decided to plan out a TSD event so you don’t miss us too much over the summer :)

For those of you who don’t know what a TSD is, it stands for time, speed, distance and it is an event where the winner is determined by the driver and navigator who can best follow the directions and stay within the average speed stated, this means NO SPEEDING! Drivers will begin by putting their licences in an envelope sealed with a UBCSCC exec signature to ensure you do not get caught for speeding. You will begin in the Spanish banks parking lot where you will do the calibration section towards UBC. After a 5 minute wait you will begin the course planned out by us throughout the kerrisdale and kitsalino areas of Vancouver. The directions will tell you distances until your next turn or landmark so the navigator will need to have a keen eye and be good with directions! You will finish by coming back to the Spanish banks for a BBQ hosted by us.

Details:
Location: Spanish Banks parking lot, closest to ubc MAP
Date/Time: July 27th, Check in from 4-4:30, first car starts at 5, BBQ at 6.
Entry: $5 per car if a member in the car has a UBCSCC yearly membership (registered on MSR), $10 if the car has no registered UBCSCC members.
BBQ: Hotdogs/vegidogs, drinks, free with entry ( $1 donation if only attending BBQ)

Prizes:
1st – 2 free UBCSCC events* for an autocross
2nd – 1 free UBCSCC event* and a turbo heart t-shirt
Last – To be announced
Best costumes – To be announced

I'm looking for a co-driver for this event! Anyone interested?
I'm ok with driving or navigating. I've driven in a handful of TSDs before and never navigated but willing to give it a shot.

    Thanks

Kevan, Thanks for the support, however my networking skills may be not so good as I haven't found a co-driver.
I'm planning to come out to the bbq anyway, and if someone wants to rally with me I'll put up the $5 cash on site.
    See you there!

Thanks again for everyone coming out! I hope you all had a great time despite the parking issues at the start :)

Congratulations again to the winners, it was not an easy route but everyone did quite well considering it was many racers first TSD.

Here are the results from the day for you to all have a look through if interested!
